South Austin Moonlighters – Travel Light

Hometown:   Where Else?

Album:  Title track from their new album on Station House Records will be released on May 17.

Review Snippet:  The album’s title track is driven by slinky, Levon Helm-esque drums; a study on the life distractions with which we constantly burden ourselves. Chris Beall shares that the simple meaning of Travel Light is that “life is tough and we don’t need to make it tougher.” This new album is sure to unburden fans old and new.

Keston Cobblers Club – Swimming Pool

Hometown:     Kent, UK

Album:  From their second album “Siren” released April 12 on Tricolour Records.

Review Snippet:  Sibling singers Matt and Julia Lowe have Of Monsters and Men-type shouty harmonies; there’s Mumford-type rambunctious folk and Stornoway’s joyous elemental pop. The big-drummed Contrails finds Julia hooting like an owl, and they’re the latest band to have their photographs taken in a magical-looking forest. If there is a distinctive element, it’s the almost Europop synths and polished pop production. The haunting Sober detours from the default mode of nice and cheery, the darker subject matter suggested in the title.
